No more tangled wires: Smart solutions for customers
The inventors at TIS love to develop solutions that facilitate the daily work of our customers in very practical ways. That is exactly what they did for one of our customers, John Forwarding, who was looking for a space-saving solution without cable clutter, to store and to simultaneously charge their unused mobile data terminals during the day. Read more in this newsletter about this case study with an interesting video.
You will also learn interesting facts this time about our new software product PSV3 Smart that enables transport companies to easily provide a way of order data processing on a personal smart phone to their subcontractors.
This fall we will represent at numerous events and fairs - next on the Post-Expo in September in Stockholm. For more information keep reading this newsletter, also find exciting news from the world of Motorola. And because it has become a good tradition for us to introduce you to our staff and their activities, at the end of this newsletter we show you, how our team has celebrated the System Administrator Appreciation Day.
Enjoy reading and best regards!

A smart, space-saving storage solution for John Forwarding
The CargoLine Logistics Network member John Forwarding uses our mobile telematics solution PSV3®. For barcode scanning of incoming and outgoing shipments, John Forwarding has 50 mobile data terminals in use. Most of them are only active at night, when the 70,000 square-foot transshipment hall serves as the central hub of the cargo cooperation CargoLine. The forwarder was looking for a space-saving solution without any clutter to store and recharge unused equipment during the day.
The TIS solution
Three clean and lockable metal cabinets with a capacity of 20 scanners each. The devices are accurately arranged in five rows one above the other on robust power outlet strips with power supply. They are fed from a central transformer, which makes the many bulky chargers usually in use unnecessary. In addition, the cabinets have electrical ventilation that provides for a largely dust-free storage behind the Plexiglas doors.

PSV3 Smart - The smart solution for InfoDesk users
With PSV3 Smart you can now integrate sporadically employed subcontractors or drivers in InfoDesk.
Especially important: With PSV3 Smart you avoid data protection problems!
The reason is that PSV3 Smart does not store corporate data on the device of the subcontractor, but only online in InfoDesk. Orders for the driver are created in InfoDesk. After completion of PSV3 Smart no more access to the order data is possible. Thus, the legally required protection of personal data is largely ensured.
PSV3 Smart is running browser based on all current smartphones. This way chartered subcontractors can easily, efficiently and economically be integrated into the customer's PSV3 system.

Motorola Enterprise Mobility products change name back to Symbol Technologies
In the spring of 2014 Zebra Technologies acquired the Enterprise Solutions branch of Motorola for $ 3.45 billion. Now the revival of the old name "Symbol Technologies" is intended to build for this division on the previous success of the branding.
While Zebra provides barcode printers - Motorola Solutions covers the barcode area with scanners. Behind the portfolio of the Enterprise Solutions business of Motorola hides the former Symbol product line. Once pioneers of scanner and barcode technology and market leader in the field, after the sale to Motorola in 2006 and the accompanying loss of the name Symbol-products had lost a large chunk of their identity.
Now, after the takeover Zebra decided to revive the old name "Symbol Technologies" for this division and to build on the former success of the branding.
As Motorola Solutions now announced to their partners a rebranding process will be started in the course of which all products are re-marked with the name Symbol Technologies.
The first Symbol products will already be supplied in the third quarter of 2014, including the CS4070, the DS3408 and the MC18.
By the spring of 2015, according to the current plans the process should be completed.
This affects all Motorola Enterprise Mobility products, such as mobile computers, bar code scanners, RFID readers, wireless products and software.
In the first quarter of 2015 the complete content refresh will be started. This regards changes to all websites, data sheets, marketing materials, and the like to the name symbol. This process should be completed by the middle of the second quarter of 2015.
The schedules above are estimates by Motorola and are subject to change. In any case, however, it is time to say goodbye to the Motorola gull and to welcome back "Symbol Technologies".

TIS Backstage: A Barbecue for SysAdminDay 2014
At the end of July we had a barbecue on the occasion of the System Administrator Appreciation Day hosted for all colleagues in the house. The System Administrator Appreciation Day, in short SysAdminDay, since July 28, 2000 has been held every last Friday in July.
The purpose of this particularly nice international Remembrance Day is to thank the diligent helpers in the background for their tireless, patient and good work. And since at TIS we have quite a large support team that ensures the processes of our customers to get quickly back on track and running smoothly, around 20 Tissis have taken the opportunity to celebrate!
See you again in September!
