Food for truck drivers

TIS GmbH gave out food products to truck drivers in need who have to face new challenges.

When our employee, Oliver Krahmer, told us about his plan to buy groceries and give them to truck drivers from the East who stranded in Germany, we wanted to support him. That is we gave him money to buy more groceries as primarily planned.

Distribution to the truck drivers
In the end, our colleague bought groceries worth 300 euros. Especially instant coffee, convenience food in cans, bread, sausages, salami and cheese. On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, he drove to the Ruhr area and and gave the products to 13 different truck drivers. The most of them came from Belarus and Russia.

Reaction of the drivers
At first the truck drivers reacted very reserved. Our colleague tried to talk to them, but they replied nothing. Only when he opened his trunk, pointed to the products and said that the drivers do not have to pay for it, they seemed to understand that he just wanted to help them. One after another came to his car and Oliver Krahmer gave them a food ration for one week. The truck drivers were happy and they showed their thankfulness despite understanding problems.

The current situation
Many truck drivers from Belarus and Russia are afraid due to the current situation. They rarely have contact to their families as their phone cards do not work anymore. Three of the drivers stood at the rest area for eight days without money. They had to rely on other drivers who shared their food with them although they did not have much food left. Their Polish purchaser will now at least pay for the diesel they need to get to the unloading point. Afterwards, they will stand again without getting ahead.

Conclusion of our employee Oliver Krahmer: "It was a very emotional moment and a for me clear sign how much each of us can effect by doing instead of talking."
