TISLOG Multi-Tour Optimization
TISLOG Multi-Tour Optimization
Bocholt, September 22, 2023
Tour optimization means the automatic distribution of shipments and packages to be transported to available loading units, with the aim of saving kilometers or vehicles and thus time and money.
While in the past tour optimization was often only relevant for long-distance transport or special transport, it is now being used more and more in local transport due to increased costs and the shortage of drivers (drivers, dispatchers, etc.).
Potential savings through tour optimization
The results regarding the savings potential of tour optimization show that the savings overtake the costs of tour optimization in a very short time. This is because the optimal utilization can be planned more specifically. In some cases, this means that less vehicles are needed. In addition, up to 15% diesel can be saved through tour optimization. Savings can also be made in terms of driver costs. There are also savings of up to 15% in the driver's working time and in the number of kilometers driven.
TISLOG Multi-Tour Optimization (MTO)
The TISLOG Multi-Tour Optimization can be used for both local and long-distance transport. With it, tours are automatically created according to certain parameters. In the background, the TISLOG MTO Engine uses either PTV or Here as a map provider. Further connections are planned. A challenging mode is also planned that uses the connected engines simultaneously and presents the results achieved in a comparable manner. This means that the optimal provider can be used for different regions or business areas.
What is taken into account when optimizing the tour
Various parameters are taken into account to calculate the optimal tour. This includes
- Vehicle speed profile
- Maximum loading capacity of the vehicle (volume, weight)
- Remaining driving times of the driver
- Type of cargo, e.g. dangerous goods
Both deliveries and pickups can be scheduled on one tour. It is important that the shipment data is as complete as possible. Any tour optimization can only work well if the shipment weights and volumes are known.
The advantages of Tour Optimization
- Costs of tour optimization are quickly offset by savings
- Better utilization of vehicles and drivers
- Time savings in the office through automated route planning
- Relief for dispatchers
- Consideration of various parameters to create an ideal tour
- Positive side effects for the environment, for example if kilometers or vehicles can be saved
