New Dates And Events At TIS

2014 already in the first half is a very active year at TIS. Our new premises in the TIS-Tower open up more possibilities to us. This also applies to TIS internally.
Thus, the TIS management has declared 2014 the "Year of Workplace Health Promotion" - because physical fitness also keeps the gray matter active.
Active we also remain in the field of events.
The LogiMat last February was a great success. We build on that success.
In the upcoming weeks and months we will be present at other top events of the industry and our own events.

There is also news of our partner for mobile hardware, Motorola: Zebra Technologies buys the corporate business branch of Motorola Solutions. Torsten Dutkiewicz, sales specialist at TIS, has written an interesting essay about it.

2014 - Year of Workplace Health Promotion at TIS
The year 2014 was declared the “Year of Workplace Health Promotion” by the TIS management, because physical fitness also keeps the gray matter active. In this context measures for the sustainable optimization problem areas are currently being implemented.
In some areas special acoustic installations are made - especially areas with a lot of phone conversations. Poor acoustics diminishes the ability to concentrate and can thus cause stress.
In collaboration with the Techniker Krankenkasse internal and external information events and courses are offered on the topics of exercise, nutrition, relaxation and motivation. As for most of the TIS employees their everyday work is based on mainly seated activities, compensation options will be endorsed to move into focus.
The TIS-Tower also offers more opportunities for action. Firstly, the colleagues are spread over four floors. When the team gathers for meetings, hardly anyone uses the elevator.
Also the recreation room on the 3rd floor with a table tennis desk and a professional mini soccer table is popular for short exercises during the breaks.
A balanced health consciousness also takes the appropriate nutrition into account.
On May 17, TIS supports a conjoint event organized by the local VHS and Slow Food. This info day shows that "healthy" and "enjoyable" are not opposites. In focus also is the promotion of products directly from our region.
Last but not least on May 3rd the annual city run is hosted again in Bocholt. TIS is involved not only as a sponsor, but as every year, TIS employees are active participants in this city run.
We keep our fingers crossed for our colleagues, even if the theme as always is: Being there is what matters!
Zebra buys Motorola
An essay by TIS Sales Specialist Torsten Dutkiewicz
A message that caused some puzzled looks during the last few days. Although Zebra Technologies is the leading manufacturer of label printers worldwide, outside of their own customer base they are hardly known. It's hard to believe that Zebra with 3.46 billion USD market capitalization swallows a company like Motorola Solutions with 16.97 billion USD market capitalization.
In fact, Zebra Technologies buys only the Enterprise Business, which is the corporate division of Motorola Solutions, basically the part that was bought in 2006 in the form of Symbol Technologies for 3.9 billion USD by Motorola. The division includes mobile computers, bar code scanners, RFID readers and wireless infrastructure. The greater part of Motorola Solutions includes products for the public sector, such as radio devices, digitally trunked radio and mobile network technology, that part remains as Motorola Solutions.
Thus Zebra "only" swallows an equally large company and the market leader in the field of mobile devices for business use. Zebra was debt free before the takeover, for the transaction Zebra takes up a loan of 3.2 billion USD. Given the current low interest rate this policy makes sense as having no debt at all for a company of this size is practically wasteful. Economically, the purchase seems to be a smart move.
In figures, the situation looks as follows:
An interesting question to answer is the brand name Zebra wants and will be allowed to work with in the future. Symbol Technologies and Motorola are more popular in the market for mobile computers than the name of Zebra Technologies.
But much more important is that the structures of Zebra and Motorola Solutions are very similar, both sell through distributors to system integrators and maintain end users in cooperation with the partners. Zebra knows the market, the rules of the game and the players, therefore difficulties and interruptions related to corporate culture are unlikely.
We at TIS have always relied on several manufacturers in order to always have the technological edge and be able to fully meet all our customers' requirements. In addition to mobile computers you can buy barcode scanners, tablets and smartphones for corporate use and vehicle computers at TIS. We spend a lot of time on evaluating manufacturers and their products and tests to make sure that we are always able to deliver the right product at the right price.
