TIS Newsletter December 2014
White Paper Power Management, LogiMAT 2015, TIS GunGrip for MC40 ...
Christmas is coming - and together we will look back on an exciting and successful 2014. And now it is already becoming apparent that 2015 will bring some outstanding technical developments to our customers. Look forward to learning more about new products next year online and at trade shows of the industry. A brief outlook at the LogiMAT in February can be found already in this newsletter.
Along with innovative and practical solutions in telematics and mobile order management, our customers primarily appreciate our services and expert advice. For us, this also means to present specialized information in the form of real added value to the business practice of our customers. For example in 2014 we hosted our own well-attended workshops on topics such as BOYD - and of course our in-house exhibition last autumn. Since September also a TIS-team is blogging on trade topics related to telematics and logistics - and our new white paper, "Power Management" is the first in a new series of technical publications for you.
Read more in this newsletter - and look forward to some Christmas recipes of our employees - guaranteed kitchen tested!

The TIS White Paper on Power Management
For smooth operation of your mobile data terminals (MDTs) a long battery life is an important prerequisite. Our first white paper shows you how to manage the power consumption of your MDTs optimally when they are running with our telematics software PSV3.
Power Management aims to temporarily disable unnecessary features and configure the suspend mode intelligently to save power. This will extend the runtime of MDTs significantly. The PSV3 configuration offers you a number of settings. The user of the MDTs does not have to set these power saving options manually, because PSV3 controls them automatically.
Some of these settings are of course highly dependent on the application profile - read more about it in our TIS white paper by Josef Bielefeld, which you can download on our website for free.
More white papers are planned.
LogiMAT 2015 in February
From February 10-12, we are represented at the top event in Intralogistics, the LogiMat 2015. Early next year we will get back to this event in more detail. But we already have the info that you can see the WA Pro 4 with TIS trigger handle there for the first time, which can also score for warehouses without WLAN especially by its simple documentation of damages and the loading and unloading scan.
WA Pro 4 - Camera & Long Range scanner in one device
The highlight: At TIS the WA Pro 4 is equipped with a long range scanner which has several meters scan range. Thus scanning can be conveniently performed from the forklift seat. On request, the WA Pro 4 also comes with a GPRS module. Via the GSM network this allows to worked in warehouses even without WLAN infrastructure. The combination of scanner and camera also allows for easy documentation of damages. And thanks to the ergonomic trigger handle developed by TIS the the WA Pro 4 supports fatigue-free working.
TIS-Plus & more
In addition to numerous hardware innovations - including some TIS Plus in-house developments such as the trigger handle for industrial smartphones and tablets- the loading and departure control documentation of PSV3 will be in focus on our exhibition presence.
We will provide more information on this in our special newsletter in January and at LogiMAT!
Easier Scanning with the TIS Trigger Handle for MC40
With our specially designed trigger handle for the Motorola MC40 scanning in the truest sense of the word is easier and faster.
For the trigger handle by TIS Plus turns your smartphone into a industry performance data acquisition unit. The improved ergonomics allows for effortless working in warehouse, sale or picking.
This trigger handle is just one example of the "refinement" hardware for use in the warehouse and trucks, we will show for the first time at LogiMAT: TIS Plus, accessory with added value!
We proudly present: The Telematics Magazine is online
Our Telematics Magazine is the new special blog for the logistics industry. Since the end of September, we write about current industry and market trends, new technologies - and our work at TIS.
The blog provides an interesting mix of current topics and industry trends around mobile order management, logistics and Intralogistics. We also want to give you the chance to take a glance behind the scenes of TIS: With workshops and case studies, interviews with our customers and partners - or staff portraits.
We look forward to a lively exchange with our readers!
Advent recipes from the TIS kitchen
Pia Soppe - Tissi in purchasing, management and exhibition organization - has disclosed two of her best Advent recipes to us. Success guaranteed and extremely delicious! The apple-onion casserole makes a very fine main entrée, but also tastes great as a side dish to venison and red meat - and the Spicy Christmas Cookie - Parfait has already found some fans at TIS. In the mood for cooking?
Find the recipes right here:
Apple Onion Casserole (4 servings)
You need:
• 6 apples (preferably sour)
• 6 onions (red or spanish onions)
• 50 g butter - flaked (1/4 cup)
• 1 pckg. cream (5 oz)
• Cayenne pepper
• Salt
• A hint of cinnamon
How to do it:
- Chop the apples and onions into rings and layer in an ovenproof casserole dish. The top layer should always consist of apples. The more layers there are, the more delicious the casserole.
- Season the top layer generously with salt & pepper, then sprinkle with a hint of cinnamon.
- Distribute the butter flakes evenly on the prepared casserole and pour over the cream.
- Then cook in the oven for 25 min at 180 °/ 365 F (with integrated air circulation, pre-heated).
This casserole tastes great with venison and red meat.
Spicy Christmas Cookie Parfait (6 servings)
You need:
• 150 grams of spicy Christmas cookies (5.3 oz)
• 4 egg yolks
• 100 g sugar (1/2 cup)
• 50 g vanilla sugar (1/4 cup)
• 100 ml apple juice (3.4 fl. oz.)
• 400 ml fresh cream (0.8 pint)
How to do it:
- Mix egg yolk with sugar, vanilla sugar and apple juice in a mixing bowl well over a hot water bath (water should not boil, otherwise there is a risk of clotting) beat until the mass has become white and viscous.
- Then beat cold in cold water.
- Crumble the spicy Christmas cookies and mix gently.
- Whip the cream until stiff and fold in.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and freeze overnight.
The Parfait can be freely portioned or frozen in whole. If you want to freeze the parfait as a whole, you need a container with approximately 1.5 liters (1.6 quart)
How it's served!
Before serving, you should dip the form in hot water for a moment. Then you can flip over and remove the parfait and cut into slices, for example. Serve garnished with cream and pistachios.
Tip! Serve winter fruit to it.
See you next time in January!
