2020 - a year that we will remember for a long time
Bocholt, December 15, 2020
The last newsletter of the year should highlight the positive and beautiful developments of a company and let us all once again participate in the pleasant events of the passing year. Understandably, that is very difficult for me this year, as we all - professionally and personally - had to cope with many restrictions and perhaps also financial problems. It has been a year that nobody wants to relive again and we are all very hopeful that the coming year is going to bring a little normalcy again. Nonetheless, in this newsletter I will try to highlight the positive events in 2020.
On the one hand, there is the topic of home office: like many of our customers, we moved into the home office for a few months. Even during the new lockdown, which has been in effect since Wednesday, most of our now 80 employees are working from home. Our luck was that we decided last year to use an IP solution for the telephone system, which was set up in February of this year. We were available for you at our homes as usual and many of you didn't even notice that we weren't in the office at the TIS Tower.
Through further investments in mobile workplaces with laptops, notebooks and the corresponding ergonomic equipment of the home workplaces, we were able to maintain the efficiency in development, project planning and service even under the spatial separation.

Last year we also dealt very intensively with the topic of “optimized digital collaboration”. We have invested in tools and found opportunities that are very effective in working constructively with our customers. Here, too, the results so far show that the employees can work better digitally with each other as well as with customers and suppliers than last year - both in the office and at home. All in all, we were just a little lucky.
On the other hand, we are happy to report further growth - we have already been talking about it in one of our past newsletters. We have added an extension to the existing office complex so that the entire building now has enough space for more than 100 employees. In addition, we were able to win additional employees for us last year. We briefly introduce the new colleagues here, a more detailed description will certainly follow in one of the next newsletters. In the extension, we attached great importance to the community and the well-being of our employees. Our cafeteria can easily compete with a comfortably furnished café, and there are also many options available for employees to relax with a table soccer, table tennis and a massage chair. If it gets hot in summer, our spacious roof terrace in Mediterranean style invites our staff to spend the breaks up there.
In terms of productivity a lot has changed at TIS, too: our storage is now located right next to production. The production stations, which were originally optimized for individual production, have been turned into a small production line in which we can also produce larger quantities in a short time.
TIS has always been well positioned in terms of sustainability. So it was self-explanatory that the extension would again have a photovoltaic system, which, by the way, can be used to charge up to 4 e-vehicles at the same time at the TIS charging stations.
We would have loved to celebrate our 35th company anniversary with you this year and have a house-warming party in our extension.

But postponed does not mean canceled - we will make up for it as soon as celebrating together is considered safe again, we promise. Nevertheless, we would like to introduce our new building to you, so we commissioned an agency to create an interactive tour of the building. As soon as it is "online" we will inform you about it in our newsletter.
A lot has been going on in our product portfolio in the past year. We have long outgrown the “mobile order management” niche and have also become an innovative player in the field of TMS providers. It is precisely through your input that our products continue to develop and our portfolio has grown beyond order processing, recording, disposition and evaluation.

In the past year, we also analyzed many innovative topics and partly integrated them into our products. In addition to blockchain, we deal with the topics of AI / machine learning, robotics and digital image processing. All buzzwords, some of which people have grown tired of hearing. Nevertheless: I think it is very important that we deal with these topics, because TIS has always been this: not only an employee-oriented, but also a very innovative company.
Due to Corona, we had to waive many visits to and from customers this year. In addition, all trade fairs have been canceled.
We tried to compensate for the lack of contact by means of so-called "online trade fairs", special product events and customer training via online presentations as well as an expansion of our webinar program, which - as customers have often confirmed - we have mastered successfully.
Nevertheless, we look forward to being in direct and personal contact with you again as soon as possible. Be it at trade fairs, at customer events in our company or a visit at your premises.
For the entire TIS team - or as we say: from us Tissies - I would like to thank you very much for your trust and loyalty over the past year. As I said, I know how difficult it has been for many of you and I hope, in the common interest, that we will experience a beautiful year in 2021, which we will remember as: the pleasant year after Corona.
With this in mind, all Tissis wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2021.
Yours Markus Vinke

New colleagues at TIS
This year we were able to expand our team with various colleagues. Almost all of our departments received active support in order to be optimally positioned for the growing challenges.
Here is a brief introduction to our new colleagues:
Unfortunately, our planned celebration for the opening of the extension could not be held this year. But we plan to host the party next year. In advance you will find some pictures here for a first impression of our new building.
