New EU DSGVO, webinars and other dates

On May 25th, the European Directive DSGVO becomes effective. In this issue we report on our preparations. This also means that we have to conclude written contracts for "data processing" with our software service customers by this date. If you have questions about this and other topics, we are always happy to help.

Last but not least: In April, "Tag der Logistik (Logistics Day)" will give young people from the region the opportunity to take a closer look at TIS as an employer and to ask our team questions. Also for those interested in telematics, a visit in Bocholt at our premises is worthwhile.

The European directive DSGVO becomes effective on 25.05.2018.
Are you prepared?
We report on our activities
The previously valid BDSG (Federal Data Protection Act) will be replaced on 25.05.2018 by a European regulation - the DSGVO and in Germany in addition the BDSG-neu. The old as well as the new law deals with the protection of personal data.
However, the new law brings some new obligations for all companies and associations. TIS has set up a corresponding internal project since last year and we are well on schedule.

In principle, we have internally set up 2 parallel projects, because the DSGVO makes specifications for the protection of personal data AND also makes provisions for IT security.
In the field of IT security, we are in a certification process that will culminate in an audit at the beginning of May. Upon completion, we will be certified to VDS 3474.
There are a variety of tasks in the field of data protection, one of which also concerns the contractual relationship with our software service customers - more on that in a moment.
We are currently preparing our "List of Procedures" and preparing ourselves for the new information requirements and also new accountability.
This also included adjustments to contact forms, privacy statements, etc. of our web pages - which will be finished until May 25th.
The BDSG already had an obligation to conclude a data processing contract with suppliers and customers as soon as it was possible for the contracting party to have access to personal data. In DSGVO this contract is now called “data processing order”. In practical terms, this means that TIS has to conclude contracts with almost all suppliers and service providers. This is currently an ongoing process that has made good progress.
Are you using our software service?
Then you also need to conclude an “data processing order” contract with TIS until May 25, 2018 to meet your obligations under DSGVO.
Our software service also includes remote access support. As part of remote maintenance, our employees may have access to personal information about your employees, subcontractors and customers.
We have asked out IT lawyer to adjust our data processing contract to the new law. In the coming days, we will send duplicates of this contract to our service customers by mail.
Please send us a copy filled out and signed back. On request, we will also provide you with the contract as a Word file.
In the future, we will automatically attach the “data processing contract" to every change of the software service contract, so that you will always be up-to-date with regard to data protection.
