TIS discontinues support for Internet Explorer 11!
Please use the latest browser and browser versions
Bocholt, January 4, 2020
Important notice for TISLOG users: From the end of January 2020, Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) will no longer be supported!
The reason: Powerful web browsers are essential for modern web applications. It's a good thing that there are fast and powerful alternatives.
Infodesk, the Internet application from TISLOG office, uses the latest functions to make work as user-friendly as possible.
The majority of our customers already use Google Chrome or Firefox as a web browser for Infodesk. We would like to remind users who are still using the IE11 to switch to one of the modern browser alternatives.
The use of modern browsers is essential for the efficient development and use of Infodesk. Microsoft stopped developing IE11 in 2015 and replaced it with Edge. 2020 - 5 years later - there are still security updates for this browser, but no functional extensions.
The development of new functions in browsers for web-based applications has made great strides in recent years. Many new features have found their way into the HTML standard. A modern and up-to-date browser is a prerequisite for TISLOG office Infodesk and thus you, too, to be able to benefit from these functions.
With version 8.01 (release end of January 2020) TISLOG office will no longer support the IE11. Patches for previous TISLOG-office versions will continue to support IE11.
In order to fully use TISLOG office, please yield two essential aspects:
1. Keep your web browser up to date!
2. Use modern browsers that support HTML5 - HTML5 is a system requirement for Infodesk from the end of January 2020. The first version without IE11 support will be version 8.01 (release at the end of January 2020).
Why are outdated web browsers a problem?
Nowadays, modern websites cannot work properly without dynamic and interactive elements. The more diverse the functions that the browsers have to master, the greater the probability that the browser software contains errors and security gaps. These are continuously remedied by updates. Therefore, you should always use the latest program version. Outdated browsers make you an easy target for criminals who specifically exploit such vulnerabilities. It is best to set-up the browser for updates to be installed automatically.
How do I find out if my browser is up to date and secure?
There are numerous ways to have your own browser checked:
For example, here are free browser checks:
http://www.browsercheck.me/
https://home.1und1.de/browser/check/
The BSI (Federal Office for Information Security) maintains a comparison table that compares the functional requirements of selected, popular web browsers with the minimum BSI standard for secure web browsers.
How do I find out how well my browser supports HTML5?
You can find out how well your browser supports HTML5 on these two websites, for example:
http://www.browsercheck.me/
https://caniuse.com/#compare=ie+11,edge+76,firefox+72,chrome+81
Our developers use the Google Chrome browser because it is currently the fastest browser for software development. Firefox is probably the safest browser at the moment. But of course this also depends on the settings.
The well-known publishing house Heise offers a security check for web browsers and gives recommendations for the settings:

It is important to us that we can give you maximum support in everyday use of Infodesk.
