VdS certification, trade fair review, hardware webinar and ETA essay

This edition is all about information: We recently acquired our certification from the VdS, an institute for corporate security, in the areas of information security and data protection. Learn more about it here.
The transport logistic trade fair was hosted at the beginning of May, this year solely as an online event.
We took part with a specialist lecture and are very pleased to look back on a large number of participants and very positive feedback.
In our telematics magazine, guest author Ralf Johanning takes a look at the advantages of the ETA calculation. He shows where logistics stands today with this feature and what would be necessary to multiply the usefulness of such information.
We will also introduce our hardware webinar to you and you will find all the dates for the upcoming webinars in May and June in this newsletter.

As part of business processes, information and data represent a valuable asset. In the development of our solutions for the collection and secure exchange of information in logistics, information security, for example the protection of data against loss, theft, spying or misuse, therefore has a correspondingly high priority for us. The VdS has drawn up recommendations and guidelines to help companies design the security of all areas through which data and information are moved according to the most modern standards. The VdS is an institute for corporate security. With a VdS certification, companies can prove that they are applying the latest safety standards.
We have successfully met the requirements for VdS10000- and 10010-certification.
Review: A complete success - transport logistic 2021 online event
Due to the ongoing restrictions caused by Covid-19, the transport logistic trade fair took place online this year. Around 8,500 people took advantage of the offer and participated.
Instead of a virtual trade fair, where each exhibitor has their own virtual stand, transport logistic was set up in the form of an online platform. The platform allowed for networking, scheduling of appointments and offered specialist lectures to the viewers. There were a total of 87 conference contributions and 30 company sessions, to which all participants had free access.
We also took part in the transport logistic online event with our own company session on the subject of “Will telematics be irrelevant in 10 years?”.
Improved planning with exact arrival time
The estimated time of arrival has still not quite reached the logistics department. This is sad because it could make the daily work of many dispatchers easier - but only if the data is right.
Precise information is the gold of the logistics and transport industry. This is why the estimated time of arrival (= ETA) is much sought-after information from which all parties involved along the transport chain, from the sender and dispatcher to the customer, can benefit.
In his blog post, our guest author Ralf Johanning explains why this information is still not always available in practice. You can also find out in the article which factors have to be taken into account in order to make the ETA a reliable feature.
