ETA calculation in TISLOG for dispatching

ETA calculation in TISLOG - essential for tour planning

ETA-Bestimmung in der TISLOG Logistik-Software

February 19, 2021

The ETA (= estimated time of arrival) indicates the estimated time of arrival and has become an integral part of the transport and logistics industry and is therefore also part of our TISLOG logistics software. In some areas, the calculation of the ETA is already mandatory, in other areas it is implemented following customer requests. In B2C business in particular, it has become standard to inform the customer of the delivery date including the time. However, the estimated time of arrival also provides a lot of help in scheduling, for example in order to avoid exceeding the driving time due to unexpected incidents in road traffic.
The GPS data of a mobile terminal is used for this, with which the ETA can be recalculated over and over again during the tour.
In this article you will learn more about the functionality and advantages of the ETA calculation in the TISLOG software.

Consideration of different data for more accuracy

The arrival time can be influenced by various factors. Our TISLOG system takes into account, for example, traffic information, driving times, ADR information, truck attributes and the length of stay with the customer for the calculation of the ETA.

Display in TISLOG office Infodesk and on the mobile device

The ETA is clearly displayed in the TISLOG office Infodesk web portal for the headquarters. The map has a colored target lane and a colored actual lane, which can be used to precisely determine whether the agreed arrival time is realistic. In addition, the ETA is shown in the overview.
In addition, the calculated arrival time is also displayed for the driver on the mobile device in the respective tour.

React quickly thanks to TISLOG

If an appointment cannot be kept, the ETA exceeds the planned time, the dispatcher or the driver must react. Otherwise the customer could get angry or even penalty fees could become due. To prevent this, a message can be generated with the help of our additional module Alert Board. For example, e-mails can be sent to certain people who can then react immediately. An alert can also be generated on the driver's mobile device. Then either the stop list is highlighted on the mobile device or a pop-up is displayed. This allows the driver to independently adjust the stop sequence and ensure that he arrives on time at the customer.

Easily integrate third-party systems

The calculated arrival time can be passed on using the TISLOG data hub. It is possible to connect TMS systems, track & trace portals, automotive receivers or shippers.
However, it can make sense not to specify the exact ETA, but instead just a time window. In this way, the transmission of any new times can be prevented, in case the exact ETA is no longer correct, but the time window is. The calculation of the time window can be set from the exact ETA time.
