Contactless signature for deliveries

Please keep your distance - contactless signature in TISLOG

Bocholt, May 5, 2020

With a new feature in our TISLOG logistics software, delivery staff and customers can be better protected from infection by touching smartphones or tablet surfaces: signing has now become contactless. With a simple configuration adjustment, TISLOG users can take the signature of the consignee as a photo on their mobile device on the go. This is then automatically inserted in the proof of delivery. In this way, a contactless process and the recommended social distancing are very easy to implement even during a delivery and the driver still receives the necessary documentation necessary to prove in case of doubt that the delivery has in fact been completed.

In the last few months, when millions of people have been largely at home because of COVID-19 and had to switch to online orders and deliveries due to the fact that markets and shops have been closed all over the country, the transport industry has been particularly challenged. Providers like DHL almost lost control over a heavily increased parcel volume in Germany, almost as high as usual during the Christmas season.
Delivery staff is still working at full capacity, as people remain cautious in many places despite the easing of restrictions that has now started and the ordering business keeps booming. At the same time, all service providers who are in direct contact with customers during these times are expected to do everything necessary to implement adherence to the strict regulations to contain the virus, such as social distancing and extreme hygiene.

But how do you manage a contactless delivery and at the same time receive proof of delivery?

Maintaining the recommended distance when delivering a package would not be a problem at all. But how does the driver get his proof of delivery in the form of the signature of the recipient? Everyday processes, such as signing directly on the digital display of a mobile device, suddenly become a hygienic challenge for shipping providers, for which solutions need to be found as quickly as possible.
Some chose to waive signatures completely as the solution. However, in the event of discrepancies regarding the delivery, trouble is inevitable here and the financial risk shifts to the side of the service provider because he lacks the evidence.

Even if a vaccine will be found at some point, it is already foreseeable that the Coronavirus pandemic will bring about lasting changes in many processes in our everyday life.

Proof of delivery in the transport business will very likely be one of them. Because in the future service providers will definitely want to be able to prove that a delivery has been made in the event of disagreement.

The TISLOG logistics software now offers several options for contactless proof of delivery, such as the contactless signature of the consignee, which we will introduce to you below.

This is how the contactless signature in TISLOG works

In the delivery dialog of our mobile TISLOG software there is a signature field, in which the recipient usually signs using his finger directly on the smartphone or tablet of the delivery driver. This physical contact with the surface of a mobile device is no longer necessary.

After a small change in the configuration of the TISLOG software, the driver can convert the signature field in TISLOG into a photo field with just one push of a button on his mobile terminal.
The consignee signs on a sheet of paper which can then simply photographed in the signature field with the camera of the mobile device. The driver does not have to touch the paper and the customer does not have to touch the mobile device. Everyone involved can keep their distance at all times. The photo of the signature is automatically inserted into the proof of delivery in TISLOG, which is then available directly at your headquarters in Infodesk and can also be printed out as a PDF, for example.
