TIS donates to NABU district association Borken
Bocholt, July 8, 2025
As part of this year's City Cycling campaign, the management of TIS Technische Informationssysteme GmbH has given its employees a special incentive to ride their bikes and rack up kilometers: a donation of €4,000 to NABU Kreis Borken.
Before the start of this year's City Cycling campaign, Fabian Bielefeld, managing partner of TIS GmbH, gave his team a special incentive to leave their cars at home as often as possible and cycle as much as they could. The original goal was to donate €3,000 to NABU Kreis Borken and hold a barbecue on the company's rooftop terrace after reaching 7,000 kilometers. However, after this goal was achieved after just two weeks, Bielefeld upped the ante: “I think it's great that the City Cycling campaign has encouraged so many colleagues to leave their cars at home and cycle to work instead – even those who have a commute of 20 km or more. And if I can further boost this motivation with an incentive, then I'm happy to do so.” The new target was set at 10,000 kilometers. When this mileage was reached, €4,000 would be donated to NABU Kreis Borken. In addition, a cake buffet was promised on an office day. This kept the TIS GmbH team motivated and they finally reached a total of 10,322 kilometers. For this reason, the family-owned company, which is strongly committed to the environment, donated a total of €4,000 to NABU Kreis Borken. The money will be used to protect bats, especially the barbastelle bat. The existing winter quarters in the city forest, near the Holtwicker Bach stream, and close to the Bahia swimming pool are to be further optimized to provide a safe haven for the barbastelle bat, which is considered endangered in North Rhine-Westphalia. “The NABU district association in Borken is delighted that TIS GmbH is supporting our nature conservation work so generously through the City Cycling campaign. This will enable us to make an important contribution to species protection for bats around Bocholt. It is a good sign that a commercial enterprise is also committed to nature conservation and supports local projects,” said Martin Frenk, district chairman of the NABU district association in Borken.
