Large order / Telematics: Raben goes with PSV3

19.11.2011

The Raben Group is a European logistics service provider and was founded 80 years ago. The company offers transportation by land, air and sea transport as well as comprehensive logistics solutions and global supply chain management. The logistics service provider equips offices in the Czech Republic and Poland with the telematics solution PSV3. The system is installed on mobile data terminals (MDT), which are equipped with a digital camera, a 2D scanner, WiFi radio interface, GPRS modem and GPS receiver for vehicle locating.

The Raben Group uses the MDTs for the transmission of orders,
accounting of pallets and returnable packaging as well as for monitoring of the transported shipments.

In addition, the devices transfer selected technical information of the vehicle such as fuel consumption, temperature of fluids, and the braking performance. An important component of the system is the "TruckBox" developed by TIS, which is connected to the the FMS interface of the vehicle and transmits data via Bluetooth from the CANBUS and the digital tachograph to the MDT.

The TIS solution digitizes the entire information flow from order submission over the exit control, pallet certificates, driving and rest times, the photographic documentation of damages up to the proof of delivery. The concept is based on the proven telematics and tracing system PSV3 for mobile order, vehicle and driver data management in full truckload and part-load traffic.

PSV3 accelerates and optimizes the data exchange between truck and head office. Among the features of PSV3 are the easy installation of the on-board computers that are no fixtures and can be supplied on request as a self-contained case solution, which does not depend on the vehicle. The PSV3 based terminals, which are installed on hand-held devices from Motorola and Psion as MBUs are clearly superior to the fixed solutions. Through the integrated GPRS mobile radio technology, the mobile "PSV3" systems can exchange order, position, tachograph and any other archival data with the central server PSV3 of TIS.

Signatures, delivery notes or photos will be created by the MBU at the receiver's, then indexed without manual intervention and "married" with the associated orders. This allows automated and paperless processing of the records generated by the connected processing systems - for example, for billing or archiving.
