CAT-iq.

The Concept.

CAT-iq is defined as “Cordless Advanced Technology – Internet and quality” and is considered to be the DECT standard’s successor. The new standard was introduced on December 5, 2006, at the ITU World trade fair in Hong Kong. CAT-iq is the standard that connects telephone applications to broadband networks. The new technology operates within the DECT frequency range. CAT-iq was developed under the auspices of the DECT Forum.

The Target Group.
  • all current DECT technology users
  • all applications that connect Internet and telephony
The Benefits.
  • available worldwide, with few exceptions
  • does not interfere with other radio technologies, such as Bluetooth or WLAN
  • connects Internet and telephony: CAT-iq opens up opportunities for the development of new telecommunication end-user devices - as well as new applications such as Internet radio – incorporating the new functions and form factors CAT-iq offers.
  • In addition, CAT-iq also offers a new type of "Adapted Power Control" technology. APC meets today’s energy efficiency standards with regard to saving energy.
The Opportunities.

CAT-iq provides a platform for the development of new products and the improvement of existing products based on intelligent wireless communications. Beginning with CeBIT 2008, we expect that intelligent wireless communication will gain in importance in the market place and will be incorporated in mass market products.
